KAIVALYADHAMA - INDIEN - SWAMI KUVALAYANANDA

Dear Sir,

My name is Roland Weigelt. I am a former student and assistant of Dr Gharote, who unfortunately and surprisingly from one day to the next, left his body two years ago.

For seven years now, I am the director of the Ganesha Yogaschule in Cologne, one of the mayor cities of Germany.

The aim of our institute is to distribute the traditional techniques of yoga to our students, and to motivate them to seriously practise yoga on a daily scale. We are deeply grounded in the teachings of Swami Kuvalayananda, as they have been transmitted to us by Dr. Gharote. Any personality show as well as the cult of the body, with its promises of never ending youth and beauty, the main subjects of modern yoga in the western world, we try to avoid.

We offer courses on a very low fare and have created a system in which the costs for daily praxis are the same as for coming just once in a while, which encourages our students to participate pretty often. We are open to everybody who wants to learn and practise the traditional way of yoga, no matter what confession, gender, age or social status.

Being very close with the Gesellschaft für geisteswissenschaftliche Fortbildung (GGF) in Duesseldorf, the institute of Leopoldo Chariarse, where Dr Gharote directed the yoga teacher education and where all of our teachers have been educated, we are deeply connected with the – as we would call it – serious yoga-scene of Germany. It is a strong scene which has created a network of independent schools and institutes all over the country with a vast variety of traditions.

Besides the fact, that each tradition insists to have the ultimate key to yoga, the scene can be called very open minded and respectful. Since now nobody tried to dominate the whole.

By now, as there is a tendency that business-people with no knowledge about yoga at all, are entering and trying to manipulate the yoga-scene to make it more uniform and by this controllable for commercial interest, we started a yoga-portal in the internet, where students and teachers can find the basic information on yoga for free. The yoga-portal offers a lexicon of kriyas, asanas, pranayamas with references to the traditional sources as well as the different interpretations of the mayor traditions, which you can find in Germany. Step by step explanations, photos and videos of the most popular practises are added. A forum for students as well as one for teachers and a yoga-panorama in which specialists explain their traditions complete the portal. It is meant to support the students as well as the teachers, not to substitute the teacher. We hope to present it at the end of the year.

In this context we would like to cooperate with your institute. It would be an honour for us to inform the people in our country about your work and your publications. For the beginning we would like to translate and maybe publish some basic writings of Swami Kuvalayananda as we find them in the books Asanas and Pranayama and others that you might recommend. Besides that maybe one of your specialists could help us to give an outlook to your work on the yoga-portal, so people in Germany know about it. What kind of cooperation would be desirable for you?

Please let us know if there is any interest in cooperation and who would be our contact person. We hope to hear from you soon,

All the best from Germany

Roland Weigelt
